When most people see my advertising, web page or car, most
do not realize what it is that I do. My biggest challenge as a small business
owner is educating prospective clients as to my services and expertise.
I think back to high school, to my first computer class. We
worked on Radio Shack computers that really didn’t do anything. They had the
black screen with green writing – remember them? And I learned typing on an
electric typewriter. I never realized the extent that computers would become
ingrained in our lives.
Because of computers, and more advanced technology than the
electric typewriter, I am able to offer my executive administrative skills to
multiple clients, who may not need a full time assistant. I am able to do this
effectively, efficiently and affordably by using the internet (email, web
conferencing, etc.) faxing, and sometimes personal meetings. I am able to do
this because I can work from home, and assist multiple clients during any given
month.
I have regular clients each month, and I have clients who
request hours and projects on as needed basis, or when their current office
sees overflow of work. Generally I work
with small businesses and farm businesses, but I occasionally have overflow situations
from larger offices. I have one client that I have never met face to face, but
we work very well together ‘virtually’!
I offer regular administrative services, data entry, herd
data management, newsletters and more. I represent clients and organizations at
meetings and events, and will occasionally organize an event for a client. I
enjoy my business, and my clients, and I am lucky enough to be able to expand
my current skills, and have the opportunity to learn new ones.
I hope this helps explain a bit more of what I, and other,
virtual assistants do!
